Snow day, god I hope not…

I’m feeling another one for the call on freezing rain…I was very TIRED today and didn’t accomplish much other than burning plastic on my stove top (Exhaustion’s fault!) I need post some stuff hopefully later but the weather is terrible and the roads are bad.

Decluttering Challenge: The PLAN!

So I came to some decisions about my decluttering challenge and it’s time to share! I noticed looking at the calendar that a full week doesn’t begin till the 6th — phew, some challenges will need a couple days extra since I work weekends. I’ve decided to take the Wednesday to Saturday (4 days) and give myself and extra day in the areas I need it.

Week 1: Personal Space Challenge

Our BEDROOM! My dresser is the room’s dresser. Everything that doesn’t have a place ends up on the top of my dresser. I’ve had my set since I was 16 (passed to me from my grandmother), it couldn’t be any more solid but has a large surface. My husband on the other hand has a tall dresser that holds the TV and cable box. We have the 2nd largest room because of the patio door. We didn’t want the kids to have that off their bedrooms, so in actual fact my daughter has the bigger of the two.

There’s so much clutter with clothes and other stuff that the room needs work.

Week 2: Family Space Challenge

Living room, Bathroom and Kitchen! The visible living spaces have clutter all over. My husband jokes (but not really) that if it’s FLAT surface, it will never stay empty. Counters, Tables, Shelves…just to name a few. It’s time to throw out the junk that no one else wants.

Week 3: Productivity Challenge

HMM…Still thinking….

Week 4: The DREADED Challenge

Hidden behind the walls unseen are areas that I like to call my secret hiding spots for clutter. Inside the TV stand, under the China cabinet, under beds, in closets…We talked about getting a new TV stand after Christmas. My thought was HORROR! Where am I going to hide the mess now!

I think these are pretty darn good! Only took all afternoon to do it. (Hey I made Amish Bread and a jar of salsa.)

Spendings or Savings?!

I worked all weekend so I wasn’t able to do the Sunday Night Chit-Chat since I wasn’t having a very “LONG” one with son. Nothing I want to rehash but we’ll see how I feeling about it in a couple of days.

On to my other side of life the CHALLENGES as Wednesday is February 1st.

Yesterday on my way home I had to stop for groceries. No CHOICE. It’s a weekly thing that you can’t store longer than that. I went to Freshco since I was tired and wanted to get home. I bought my Fruits and Vegs, School/Lunch odds and ends, then very “FEW” miscellaneous crap. $70 later, I was shocked and I was smart though to try to figure it out yesterday before the February Challenge began.  I separated my stuff on the grocery belt…F/V then School/Lunch and extras at the end. Here’s the approximate breakdown.

Fruits and Veg – $18-20
Weekly –  $21-25
Misc – $20

I bought some things I don’t normally buy because my dietary problems and I did buy 2 things of cheese which I normally wouldn’t. But even still at $70 a week where will be the savings?! It’s not cheap to eat well (hence the F/V value).

This morning I had to get dog food and a couple of things (though I didn’t pay full price)…$42.00 later.

Post soon.

Another day, another Snow Day!

I swear these kids have had more “Snow Days” this year then in the past few years….

Yesterday’s accomplishments (or not as many as I hoped).

  1. Bake Mini Cupcakes for my son’s birthday to take to school (cream cheese icing and all)
  2. Clean the kitchen (everyday)
  3. Fold the laundry from the weekend (yes I know, not done)
  4. Make and can salsa with tomatoes I got on the weekend
  5. Find something for dinner
  6. Sign up my son’s Grade 9 classes for September (Tonight)

I couldn’t send the cupcakes (Monday I hope, they are in the fridge). Kitchen needs to the dishes done today. 50% of the clothes were folded. I ran out of time for Salsa, that’s today’s task. AND the system has been down since yesterday but I’ll try again and then call the school, considering they want it Monday.

As for our SNOW DAY, freezing rain started at midnight (my husband was coming back from hockey). I woke late, thought there was school to find out there wasn’t.

Here’s my car.

My husband decided to use the old bathroom curtain would work but unfortunately it doesn’t help the side windows which took me forever last time. Snow is on the way so hopefully this will end soon.

I need to pick up his cake today and we have his dinner tonight.

Hope everyone has a great day!

PS I spent NO money yesterday except $20 in my car for gas.

Food Waste Friday

Everything I have is still edible! Yah for me. New post in a minute. Biggest challenge? Thursday is garbage day, so I’ll start paying better attention.

Today’s Goals

So I worked yesterday (didn’t get online except to read emails off my Kobo) and then my in-laws came over to do up my son’s room because of his birthday. We still have 1 wall that’s orange (the back one) unfortunately. She bought a new comforter, sheets, pillow, curtains, boxes, and organized it.

I have put back up his calendar and cork board.

So the goals for today is to do the following.

Pretty big list for me. Something you will learn about me is I hate cleaning. Seriously lots of people hate cleaning but I think I’ve been allergic to it my whole life. I’ve never been a good “AHM” ever because I hate cleaning. I get so overwhelmed but all the tasks (I know I’m related to my kid) that have to be done, so hopefully a list will help. This is why I’m looking forward to the declutter challenge! I think it will help simplify and organize my house better which will me less “HEAVY” cleaning needed.

Well I have a few things to do before I start. Have a great day.

On a side note, I didn’t spend any money yesterday and don’t think I need to today except for gas in the car.
